Botanic Gardens Pond

oil on canvas 18" x 18"

I have visited the Chicago Botanic Gardens many times over the years since my in-laws live nearby. On one trip I snapped a picture of geese grazing on the grass next to a pond that inspired this painting. I let some orange under-painting on my canvas show through the sky and water in an attempt to make them glow. The red toned flowers at the shoreline pop next to complementary-colored green of the trees. The piece brings back happy memories with family and hopefully offers a sense of enjoyment to others.
